Mayo AC ladies’ team selected to represent Ireland at European championships

The Mayo AC ladies team have been rewarded for their good performances this year by being selected to take part in the 24th European road race inter club championships in Torres Vedras, Portugal. The event, which will take place on Sunday October 17 over a 15km course, will have top athletic clubs from all over the continent taking part. The Mayo AC team which will compete in the event will be finalised over the coming weeks.

Westport 5k fun run and walk this weekend

This Sunday, August 22, Westport will host a 5k fun run and walk around the historic tourist town. The event is open to absolutely everyone of all abilities and will take place through the grounds of Westport House. The event starts at 4.30pm sharp at the North Mall, with registration taking place from 3.30pm in the same location. The course has been accurately measured, and is the ideal distance for families, walkers, Fit4Life members, and club runners. Loftus Recycling take points in Longford

Team Loftus Recycling picked up two valuable National League (Division 1) points with a hard-earned victory against PV Falcons, Longford in the Mall Complex, Longford, on Saturday night. This was an important game for both sides with the home side very anxious to record their first victory in the current league campaign and Ballina keen to get back on a winning track following a shock defeat to league débutantes, Lisburn 94s, the previous weekend in Ballina.

Information night for new Ballina Theatre

The long awaited new theatre forBallina is moving closer and an information night on the theatre will take place on Tuesday December 2 at 6pm in the Ballina civic offices. Currently the project has received funding of €1.62 million from Ballina Town Council, €1.59 million from Mayo County Council and €1.2 million from the department of Arts, Sports and Heritage subject to the shortfall in the project being made up by local contributions. The shortfall that will have to be raised through local fund-raising is expected to be in the region of €500,000.
